Linguistic support for introducing a new service for a major mobile communications operator

One of the leading companies in the Russian mobile communications market received a license from a foreign partner for provision of a new type of service on Russian territory.

To accomplish this project the customer required a full spectrum of services for translating documentation and correspondence both from the foreign language into Russian and vice versa.  It should be noted that at the time our customer was not experienced in translating such large volumes of documentation; hence, Neotech was entrusted with selecting the optimal technology.

Upon clarifying the task set by the customer, our specialists proposed the use of a project glossary and Translation Memory technology.  An analysis of materials received from the customer determined the terms used in creating the original documentation, and a translation of these terms prepared by our specialists was sent to the customer for approval.  In the process of approving the project glossary, the customer’s technical specialists selected the translations of key terms that were most familiar and convenient for them, which were then used by all the project group participants.  Thanks to the use of the project glossary, the end users – the customer's technical and commercial specialists – from the very start were receiving documents written using familiar and understandable language.

On the basis of the documents presented by Neotech, the customer’s specialists developed their own documentation, which as per the license agreement conditions had to be relayed to the license holder.  In translating these documents it was particularly important not only to precisely relay the meaning of the Russian-language materials, but also to do so using the same words and lexical constructions used in creating the original foreign-language documents.  These tasks were accomplished with the simultaneous use of the prepared project glossary and the Translation Memory created in the foreign language translation process.

Thanks to precise organization and skilled use of modern technology, the entire volume of documentation was translated at high quality and in the allotted time, enabling our customer to enjoy all the advantages of the license to a unique mobile communications service.
