Case 1
A certain company – one of the most world’s largest players in the oil production and refining industry – approached Neotech with a request to conduct an internal audit of their own translation service. At the time both sides had already been collaborating for seven years.
At the preparation stage, Neotech and the customer jointly developed a detailed technical assignment, based on which a comprehensive consulting program was conducted. The audit continued directly for two weeks, and resulted in Neotech specialists accomplishing the following tasks:
- All the translation department’s stages and labor processes were examined in detail; measures and courses were determined for their development and improvement.
- Acting department specialists were tested to determine their professional proficiency and command of translation skills.
- Individual plans for continuing education were developed for each associate.
- Optimal structure for the department was described, including a list of specialists that might prove necessary in the future.
- Testing methods were developed for new translation department specialists.
- A complete department program was developed with such focuses as “Interpretation skills improvement”, “Peculiarities of translation and editing of materials along customer lines”, and “Acquisition of technical tools and SW for complex technical translation”.
In the words of the customer company’s translation department director: “At the first stage, Neotech conducted education in two areas: project management and translation quality control. Interim conclusions and results:
- Quality management system, created on our specialists’ recommendations, successfully implemented for Neotech customer company
- Five consulting training courses completed to date by customer’s translation department associates on subjects and focuses previously developed and planned
- Neotech approached by company with request to develop two-year instruction and consulting plan for its associates
