NEOTECH begins testing a new product from PROMT
Svetlana Svetova, Manager of Language Technology Implementation at PROMT, has sent the latest version of the PROMT Expert 8.0 translation system to NEOTECH’s Translation Department for testing.
NEOTECH is planning to carry out a number of tests using the PROMT automatic translation system in the professional translation process, as well as study the system’s capabilities with respect to the various tasks of this process, in particular, interaction with the SDL TRADOS Translation Memory system, which is implemented in the special module PROMT for TRADOS.
As a result, NEOTECH’s specialists will provide PROMT designers with a detailed test report that, in particular, will enable them to elaborate a method for using the PROMT system in the translation process, and perhaps introduce some additions and changes to existing software products, making them even more oriented towards solving professional translation problems.
Pavel Dunaev, Manager of the Translation Department at NEOTECH: “Over a period of many years, our company has successively implemented various translation automation systems. The primary goal of this effort has been to satisfy our customers’ demand for high-quality translation of large volumes of technical and business documents. Today, the use of up-to-date Translation Memory systems is mandatory for any large-scale project. The next logical step should be to implement machine translation systems, and so we were extremely interested in the appearance of a new PROMT system. We are primarily interested in integrating machine translation tools with the TRADOS systems already in use in our practice. The main objective is to study means of integrating MT and TM systems, determine the area of application of the integrated solution, and make arrangements for our best staff and freelance translators to use this solution.”
Svetlana Svetova, Manager of Language Technology Implementation at PROMT: “We are very interested in this interaction with the professional translator’s market. Our cooperation with NEOTECH has been developing for a long time now, and we’re very pleased that specialists of Russia’s leading translation company will be able to take part in this testing, which we hope attract the attention of the entire translation community to the interaction of the most state-of-the-art translation automation systems – and help us refine our method of successful implementation and use of these systems.”
