Case 2About a year ago Neotech was approached by a customer to translate blueprints in AutoCAD format. The timeframe given was extremely tight: five thousand blueprints had to be translated within one and a half months. Following a staff meeting, the project manager adopted the decision to employ additional service providers. Based on tests checked by an editor specially assigned to the project, two translation companies were selected. The work went on to be arranged according to the following plan. A work group was created whose participants were responsible for administration (the project manager), crosschecking of uniformity of terminology and checking of prepared blueprints received from the suppliers (the editor), and layout quality evaluation (the layout department). A part of the blueprints were translated using internal resources of our company. The remaining work was accomplished by the suppliers employed. Specialists from Neotech’s layout department developed and implemented a special technology enabling the processing of large volumes of blueprints in a minimal time span. Thanks to this, we were able not only to reduce labor time but also to achieve a high quality of translated blueprints. The result of the measures adopted was that the order was filled by the deadline, translation quality was ensured at the appropriate level, and Neotech continues to work with the customer on a permanent basis. The experience of working with this type of order enabled us to implement and successfully employ a new procedure for processing large packages of blueprints. |
